True Confessions (on Liberty and the Republic)

By Eric Andrews
Featured on Charles Hugh Smith's Oftwominds blog

"The great secret and greatest fear of government is this one fact: they’re already irrelevant. That’s all. They’ve already proven they’re incapable of the smallest action: Katrina, TARP, the Deepwater Horizon, how many times do they need them to prove it to you? How much longer will you look to them to save you?
"It’s already under your control. It’s already the highest law of the land. It’s both your right and your duty to remove, ignore, and impeach anyone who stands in your way.

Is Collapse Inevitable?

"Several countries are already past the point of no return. Even if America taxed 100% of all household wealth, it would not be enough to put its balance sheet in the black. And Professors Rogoff and Reinhart show that when external debt passes 73% of GDP or 239% of exports, the result is default, hyperinflation, or both. IMF data show the US already too far gone on both scores, with external debt at 96% of GDP and 748% of exports."

It was a Wonderful Life

Here we sit in 2010. We are blessed with 4,300 Wal-Marts, 2,200 Home Depots, 1,500 Lowes, 1,000 Best Buys, 15,000 McDonalds, 11,000 Starbucks and 2 million other retail stores. Americans need to ask themselves whether cheap economy packs of tube socks were worth allowing small town America to disintegrate and blow away.

Small businesses that were the heart of America in 1946 have been methodically driven out of business by predatory mega-retailers. The free market capitalists claim this has been good for America. Is it free market capitalism when these companies use their billions to buy politicians, zoning boards, and local officials? The next time you drive through a small town and see boarded up stores, for lease signs, and decaying infrastructure think about the true cost of big business capitalism. Succumbing to corporatism and debt financed materialism has resulted in a society marred by divorce, broken families, decaying cities, drugs, murder and police chases -  the Potterville of It’s a Wonderful Life.

Long Periods of Drought … Followed by High Winds

No, at this point, there is no way out.  Thanks a lot, you friggin’ central planning feeble-minded morons!  Unlike you, normal people can actually do the math.  Even now, you economists won’t recognize your utter failure in your “field of study”?  You pretend to use big words, but it’s easy to recognize them as merely confused baby-mumblings.  Clearly nobody should have let you wear “big boy” pants.  In the true mark of immaturity, you won’t even admit to the increasing stench from the pile of brown stuff in your underwear.  Who the hell do you think will actually have to clean up that mess?

You do the math:

"What happens if rates hit 7.5%... or 10%? At that point it is game over. And that sad ending will occur once the Fed and the administration realize that all ongoing efforts to kick start a consumption driven economy will fail. In the meantime, the economy will slowly grind to a halt as the servicing of public debt takes over a greater and greater portion of all tax receipts, until all taxpayer money is used merely to cover the interest expense. At that point buying CDS on the US denominated in euros, dollars, gold, .556, watermelons, or what have you, will be completely pointless as the bankruptcy of the US will be entirely priced in."

Beware U.S. Congress & Federal Executive and Judicial Branches:

See the picture in the video above? There's a title: It's called the U.S. Constitution! Click on it and watch a refreshing alternative to sitting idly by as the bums inside the beltway destroy the nation.

To all branches of the federal government:

The American people are tired of your ways. You are tanking the nation in a mountain of debt. Your actions are nearly tyranny. Your power has grown far beyond that allowed by the U.S. Constitution. Your non-elected bureaucrats ride mightily on the backs of the American taxpayer. You work for us! We are going to remind you of your arrogance one way or another. This "monster government" is wildly out of control. You bums are about to see a nation in 2010 take maters out of your hands and put decision-making back in the hands of state assemblies. We are going to defy your health care initiative. We are going to amend the Constitution. We are going to nullify your petty laws. We are going to starve you of our hard-earned dollars. We are going to remind you who is truly in charge.

"Beware and be prepared America"

The Market Ticker

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All You Zombies

by Jim Quinn

"We know with certainty that our leaders have not prepared the country for this Crisis. As individuals, we also had the opportunity to prepare. Did you harvest the crops, fatten the livestock, cut the firewood, stockpile the propane, hoard ammunition and batten down your farmstead? Did you deepen your relationships with family and neighbors who would support you during a Crisis?

With a potentially devastating howling blizzard forecast in the near future, delay could be fatal. What if the blizzard lasted five years? There is no way to avoid this blizzard. The snow has begun to fall and Americans are concerned with Michael Jackson’s corpse, the breakup of Jon and Kate, Oprah’s future plans, Britney Spears’ weight, and whether President Obama should be bowing to the Japanese emperor.

Talking heads on the Sunday morning talk shows distract the public with meaningless drivel regarding polls and minor differences between the corrupt political parties. The bitter winds have begun to howl.

There is precious little time left, as the howling blizzard gains strength. You will need to hunker down for a long hard winter. Build close relationships, protect your family at all costs, don’t trust government officials, don’t expect the government to honor any fiscal promises, don’t trust the mainstream media, learn to live locally, buy a gun, buy some gold and silver, and be prepared to fight for the truth."

From TheBurningPlatform:

Wayne LaPierre is correct. American citizens are apprehensive and distrustful of their government. The government has taken over our financial system, our car industry, and now our healthcare system. The next logical step will be to take our guns. Americans that never considered owning a gun are now buying guns. The average middle class American knows they’ve been screwed by the ruling elite that have hijacked their country. The rage is palpable. Any effort by the Obama administration at gun control would produce an enormous backlash. Doug Casey recently assessed the risks in his essay Street Fighting Man:
“I’ve often wondered what would have happened in Germany after Kristallnacht if every Jew had been armed. None were, of course, because strict gun control had been imposed shortly after Hitler came to power, and like good little lambs, the population complied with the law. Bills are being discussed about things like a national firearms registry, reinstituting the so-called “assault weapons” ban, requiring secure locks on all weapons, prohibiting the import of ammunition, and levying a substantial tax on ammunition, among other things. No outright prohibition, because they know that would catalyze gun owners. But they keep dialing up the pressure, moving toward a de facto ban.
I’ll guess there are at least two to three million Americans who adhere to a couple of succinct mottos: 1. You can have my gun when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers, and 2. It’s better to be tried by twelve than carried by six. This is a group that could catch fire at some point.”
The Paul Krugmans, Nancy Pelosis, liberal MSNBC (owned by GE) talking heads and the Hollywood elite are troubled about potential violence. They should be worried. The American people are tired of being screwed. Strauss & Howe foresaw the disintegration of popular trust in government and financial institutions in the early stages of this Crisis:
“At some point, America’s short-term Crisis psychology will catch up to the long-term post-Unraveling fundamentals. This might result in a Great Devaluation, a severe drop in the market price of most financial and real assets. This devaluation could be a short but horrific panic, a free-falling price in a market with no buyers. Or it could be a series of downward ratchets linked to political events that sequentially knock the supports out from under the residual popular trust in the system. As assets devalue, trust will further disintegrate, which will cause assets to devalue further, and so on. Every slide in asset prices, employment, and production will give every generation cause to grow more alarmed. With savings worth less, the new elders will become more dependent on government, just as government becomes less able to pay benefits to them.
Before long, America’s old civic order will seem ruined beyond repair. People will feel like a magnet has passed over society’s disk drive, blanking out the social contract, wiping out old deals, clearing the books of vast un-payable promises to which people had once felt entitled. The economy could reach a trough that may look to be the start of a depression. With American weaknesses newly exposed, foreign dangers could erupt.”

Men fear thought as they fear nothing else on earth -- more than ruin -- more even than death.... Thought is subversive and revolutionary, destructive and terrible, thought is merciless to privilege, established institutions, and comfortable habit. Thought looks into the pit of hell and is not afraid. Thought is great and swift and free, the light of the world, and the chief glory of man. Bertrand Russell

A recent blog from TheBurningPlatform titled "American Pie" is a must-read for those trying to understand the pace and dramatic nature of change (economic and social) taking place before our eyes today. This is a long article but well worth the read:

American Pie

A particularly salient quote from the article:

"There is a growing army of angry citizens who know they are being manipulated and controlled. The time is approaching when violence will be required to take the power back from the fat cats. When people lose everything they have worked their whole lives for, there is nothing left to lose. Once the financial system implodes, government will be helpless to print more worthless currency. The uprising that will occur during this Crisis will be bloody, as those in power will not relinquish control without a fight. The flag of the righteous and unified will ascend. Thinking Americans are what the ruling elite fear most."

"A nation that violates the rights of its citizens cannot, in the long run, escape the consequences of its moral failure. How Far Does The Lawlessness Go?

Is the government a policeman or a felon?

By Karl Denninger 9/11/09

I'm beginning to wonder.

Those of you who have followed my writings for the last two+ years know that I have often remarked "where are the cops?" and in fact more than once asked:

Is the government a policeman or a felon?

The latter is a dangerous question should the answer ever be determined to be the latter, as it would be an open declaration that there is no rule of law.  It would instantly define the entire federal law enforcement apparatus, and those of the States and Localities that stood with the Federal Government, as nothing more than thugs with lots of guns.

That's not a good situation for what should be obvious reasons.

Out-of-control banana republic regimes usually wind up that way incrementally.  Rarely does a madman come to power and simply seize the crown.  Oh sure, it happens, but it nearly always incites immediate civil disorder and even open warfare, civil or (often) externally-promoted.  When Saddam invaded Kuwait it did not take long before the world responded with lots of guns, bombs and planes, as just one example.

But the slow, gradual co-opting of a government from inside out is another matter.  These sorts of regimes usually collapse of their own weight, but not before they take down huge swaths of the population with them, reducing them to squalor.  Thus it happened in Zimbabwe, Argentina and countless others over the years.

Has it happened in the United States already, but the people simply haven't woken up?  Two years ago, five, ten I would have instantly dismissed such a proposition as preposterous.

Now I'm not so sure.

Consider that we have had a group of people on Wall Street who were selling various security products that it is alleged they knew were worthless:

“OK still have this vomit?” a UBS employee wrote in September 2007 to a director, referring to a CDO with an investment-grade rating, according to the ruling.

“Pursuit has established probable cause to sustain the validity of a claim that the UBS defendants were in possession of material nonpublic information regarding imminent ratings downgrades on the notes it sold to the plaintiffs, information UBS withheld from the plaintiffs,” Superior Court Judge John Blawie wrote in a Sept. 8 opinion in Stamford, Connecticut. "Sleepers" can be actual people, but are mostly are radical groups of the 60's scrubbed clean and resurfacing to take a leadership role in unelected bureaucracies.

The company, once run by the former governor of New Jersey, James J. Florio, was sold to Bear Stearns and then absorbed into JPMorgan after Bear’s collapse last year. Today, Plymouth Park is one of the largest players in the tax-lien business.

Plymouth Park has filed more than 1,000 foreclosure actions against delinquent taxpayers, more than any single mortgage lender in the county." (Cont...)

From LewRockwell.com:

Many Gun Owners, the State and Media Agree; 2A Is No Longer Relevant

by Michael Gaddy
by Michael Gaddy
Recently by Michael Gaddy: Choose Your Weapons

As a government grows more and more intrusive on individual liberties, that government’s fear of the armed citizen increases exponentially, just as an armed robber fears a well-armed potential victim. Here in America in the last seventy plus years, our government and their stooges in the media have sought to relegate the right of a free people to keep and bear arms into a privilege, subject to government approval, rather than an inalienable right. Sadly, many gun owners have agreed to participate in this madness.

I have been consistent in my objections to asking permission and paying for the privilege to carry a weapon on my person, if and when I chose to do so. Yet, the majority of objections I receive to my position come from people who currently own guns and have jumped at the opportunity for government approval to do what they already have the right to do. Is this not an open acknowledgement to those in power the Second Amendment, and the remainder of the Bill of Rights, mean nothing and are subject to the whim of some elected criminal, bureaucrat, or an agenda wearing a black robe?

When I decided to write this article, I did not contact the government, submit to a background check, submit fingerprints, take a government endorsed writing class and pay for permission. What is the difference in the exercise of my inalienable right to free speech and my inalienable right to keep and bear arms? The difference is: the state currently fears my ability to resist tyranny with a firearm more than with words, but as we can see from the reaction of the government and its media lackeys to the spoken objections to the tyranny of socialized medicine, that is about to change.

In today’s political climate, if one dares to speak out about the intrusion of the state into every crevice of liberty and freedom, they are compared by the socialist mouth organ to Nazis, Hamas and Hezbollah.

If the First Amendment rights follow the pattern of the Second Amendment, only those who have been vetted by the state will be allowed to speak or write publicly, and then only after passing the prerequisite courses, state scrutiny, and of course, pay the required amount for the privilege.

I can see the stooges proudly proclaiming their newly paid-for right to speak and write, just as they do now with their permits to carry a concealed weapon. Then, many will lobby for reciprocity from other states the right to speak or publish, or perhaps even campaign for a national permit to exercise their First Amendment rights.

An American, exercising his inalienable right to keep and bear arms, recently became the focus of the state and the media in New Hampshire near where Obama was to appear. Chris Matthews and other members of the propaganda ministry were apoplectic. How dare anyone other than a government bottom feeder be allowed near the Messiah with a firearm? What would have happened had this man decided to exercise his First Amendment rights at the same time he was exercising his Second?

What did the state and the media fear most about this man with a gun? Was it the man, the gun, the spirit of the man, or perhaps it might have been his ethnicity? After all, according to the media, if he were there to object to the socialist plans of Obama that would reveal his latent racism. We all know, white people concerned about government taking over their health care want to shoot anyone who is only half white.

What a masterstroke it was for the state to get Boobus to admit the only rights he has are those subject to the "reasonable" restrictions of his masters. The precedent has been set and we have agreed; you must submit yourself before the god called government, pass their background checks, take their approved qualification course, submit the required monies and wait for your ID card certifying you have permission from the state to exercise at least one of your former inalienable rights!

If you, and/or a member of your family, are assaulted by a madman with a weapon while in a restaurant, on a school campus, in church, at the mall, in a bank, in the parking lot where you shop or work, in a carjacking or a mugging, or visiting Obama’s home town, you must remember, the only people allowed to defend their lives and those of their loved ones are those who have been sanctioned by the state to do so. That is freedom in America today, granted by the state, bought and paid for.

Through our inactions and apathy we have acknowledged the state to be the masters of our lives; perhaps we can apply for the privilege of having our own health care, the right not to be forcibly injected by some vaccine whose side effects are worse than the disease or the right not to be imprisoned in a FEMA camp. Remember, we traded our rights for security. It is turning out to be one heck of a bad bargain.

Resistance, anyone?

There is so much going on in the news today that it is impossible to keep up. The Obama administration is moving swiftly to keep everyone at bay as they nationalize industries, socialize health care and serfity taxpayers. We are in serious trouble. If you are not awake yet, time is running out to stop this Orwellian administration. Americans need to wake up to the fact that we are fast becoming a Corporatist-Nationalist-Socialist-Fascist-Police State! It is happening quickly. It is all over the news folks!

  • Industries being nationalized
  • A quiet socialist revolution taking place in health care
  • Police forces from coast to coast out of control
  • A president apologizing to foreign terrorists
  • Spending money at an alarming rate--money we do NOT have
  • Doubling the national debt in less than 24 months
  • Wall Street in control of federal policy
  • Veiled "bankrupties" that ignore the rule of law
  • A stock market that booms as a company like GM falls
  • Banks hording bailout money
  • People hording ammunition and guns

If you haven't noticed, we are putting the recipe together very slowly for a major falling out very soon. I am not sure enough people are paying attention. I think the little "uptick" in the market was just enough to lull everyone back to sleep! Wow, time to buy more McMansions, SUVs and Chinese toasters! What the hell are we thinking?

Each of these items, taken on their own, is problematic enough; taken together they portend “a clear and present danger” to the liberties of the American people. It is getting very serious now. (cont.)

Just so we're all clear: We are turning quickly into a FASCIST POLICE STATE. We are in for some serious trouble (and there will be serious consequences) if we continue down this path. I'm not sure how it happened but we have some very serious issues on our hands. We are basically now living under FASCIST rule. Think about that.

Who owns this joint? The Borah Building in downtown Boise provides temporary office space for Governor Butch Otter, who -- as a state employee -- doesn't actually own the building, nor does he pay the rent. So by what supposed right does the Governor, or any of his lickspittles, file a "trespassing" complaint against one of the citizens who do own that property?

How Things Change Out From Under Us

Paul Craig Roberts
Chronicles Magazine
April 28, 2009

Anyone who has been around for a while and who pays any attention to the news sees many disturbing changes. Recently, I read a report that two children, ages seven and eight, had an altercation at school during recess. They were carted off in handcuffs by the police. The teachers or principal had dealt with the boys’ disagreement by calling in the law.

When I was a kid there were no age limits to the Second Amendment.

I wonder if the kids now have felonious assault records that will cancel their Second Amendment rights when they come of age.

When I was a kid there were no age limits to the Second Amendment. We all had firearms before we reached puberty. Anyone with the money could purchase a .22 caliber rifle at the local hardware store. If you were too young to see over the counter, the proprietor might call your parents to get an OK. You could purchase .22 caliber ammunition and shotgun shells at most any gas station.

None of us ever shot anyone or any farmer’s cow or mule. There were no gun accidents among my armed companions.

My grandmother never batted an eye when I walked out of her farmhouse with my grandfather’s shotgun. Guns were just a routine item. We all learned gun safety from the Boy Scouts. My grandmother only became concerned for my safety when I became the proud owner of a spirited horse..." (continued)

This is potentially big and it's something we better pay close attention to as it has the possibility to crumble what is left of the housing market:

Housing Bubble Smackdown:
Bigger Crash Ahead

"Lenders nationwide are sitting on hundreds of thousands of foreclosed homes that they have not resold or listed for sale, according to numerous data sources. And foreclosures, which banks unload at fire-sale prices, are a major factor driving home values down."

"We believe there are in the neighborhood of 600,000 properties nationwide that banks have repossessed but not put on the market," said Rick Sharga, vice president of RealtyTrac, which compiles nationwide statistics on foreclosures..." (cont.)

So it looks like there's a good chance the banksters are mounting another blackmail scheme against the American taxpayer: Just threaten to sell all of the foreclosed-upon houses at firesale prices all at once unless we cough up more bailouts. Stop feed the banks; we're all going to live to regret it.

Guns, Gold, Secession

By Karen De Coster

There is a secession movement afoot and its proponents are determined to put a halt to the federal government’s ambitions to destroy and reconstruct an entire economy and dissolve the last remnants of individual liberty. Twenty-eight states are invoking the law of the land, the U.S. Constitution, by rolling out legislation to assert their sovereignty as free states in order to keep from being undermined by the never-ending swarm of unrestrained federal decrees. (cont.)

Beware the class warfare instigated by the Federal Government as a ruse to grab more power in its quest to socialize America. Our enemy is not each other; rather, it is the purposeful actions of several presidential administrations, U.S. Congress and invisible mega-bankers.

Class War in America

By Richard Baehr

Let us disregard all those contributions to Chris Dodd, Barack Obama, Chuck Schumer, and the Democratic Senate and House campaign committees from AIG, and Wall Street firms. Let us ignore the role of Barney Frank in the mortgage mischief of FNMA. Let's forget about FNMA CEO Franklin Raines, walking away with $120 million in a severance package (where are those demands for payback of bonuses from executives who looted the nation, and cost it tens of billions in bailout money?).

Populism has been let loose in America, and it is a dangerous thing. Republicans are not free of exploiting this disease of course (Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley encouraging AIG executives to commit suicide!). At the moment, I am rereading Eric Hoffer's classic from 1951: The True Believer. This longshoreman intellectual wrote the playbook for the Obama campaign -- the exploitation of the frustrated to make them think change is needed, and there is new hope for the future.

A mass movement is being created in America. Mass movements are not nuanced. They need good guys and bad guys, and an emotional desire to ruthlessly steamroller the bad guys. The left attacked George Bush for creating a simplistic division of the world into good guys and bad guys, and for using terminology like the axis of evil.

We are seeing something similar now, but not for use in unifying the country for a targeted conflict abroad, but for use in changing the very foundations of our economy. The anger and scapegoating that has been unleashed will not easily be bottled, and of course, it is useful for those who seek foundational change. (cont.)

Revolution in the Air

It's getting impossible to keep up with the rhetoric and political noise surrounding AIG, the banks, and executive bonuses. Will the government try to rein in executive pay generally, rather than just at AIG? Is this an example of the kind of misguided policy and mass hysteria which results when you try to put politicians in charge of for-profit businesses? Will it wreck the economy outright? Or is the real problem that "the administration's officials are too marinated in the insiders' culture to police it, reform it or own up to their own past complicity with it"?

Why the End of America is Closer than
You Think

Perhaps more importantly, America has abandoned the principle of law. Laws no longer matter in America because they are selectively enforced only against those who threaten powerful institutions or corporations. America is no longer a nation of freedom and justice for all. Rather, it is a nation of greed and profit for the few, followed by oppression and bankruptcy for everybody else (cont).

Rush Limbaugh to NY: Drop Dead

“So I'll tell you what I'm going to do,” Limbaugh continued. “I'm going to look for an alternative studio somewhere outside New York, perhaps Texas -- another no-income-tax state -- and I'm going to get the hell over there, when a hurricane starts coming our way, 'cause I told Mayor Bloomberg: I'll be the first to lead the way. “ (cont.)

Reduced Standards of Living

What’s going on now is nature’s way of telling you that America’s standard of living has to be reduced by something between 20 and 50 percent.  You can have it in the form of a compressive deflationary depression, including widespread bankruptcies… or you can have by way of inflation, in which money loses its value.  But there’s one basic qualification to this: the way down is not symmetrical with the way up.  That is, it’s really not just a matter of ratcheting down to a standard of living half of what it was, say, in 2006, because in the event all the various complex systems that support everyday life enter failure mode before our society re-sets at a theoretically lower level of equilibrium.

By this I mean our methods for getting food, for moving about the landscape, for deploying capital, for trading and manufacturing, for schooling, doctoring, and running public services all destabilize and, to some degree or other, fail to deliver their contribution to normal daily life.  Banking (capital deployment) is already mortally wounded.  It remains to be seen how this will affect the food supply half a year ahead in the harvest season (cont.)

China's Weak Gambit On A
Currency Shift

China is calling for a move toward an obscure international currency known as SDRs (Special Drawing Rights) used by the IMF, to replace the U.S. dollar. The proposal on first blush suggests China is concerned with looming inflation in the U.S. and the devaluation of the debt it holds. While a reasonable concern, why would it push for such a dramatic shift? (cont.)

Oooommmmmmmmm

As return readers know, my mantra with regard to the coming economic (and societal) collapse is frightening simple: The "Growth" upon which we have come to rely in order to maintain our "way of life" is done, finished. Ever since Tricky Dick unilaterally took us off of the gold standard in 1971 we have been hurdling toward this moment in time. We have clung desperately to the illusion of growth for decades, and now that illusion has been summarily smashed to bits on the rocky shores of a Ponzi economy and hundreds of trillions of dollars in unserviceable debt. It's really that simple. We have existed, subsisted, for decades upon the "wealth" created by growth that wasn't in fact growth at all. It was debt. And without sustained growth, we die. Society collapses. But we CANNOT grow anymore because our Ponzi world has reached the end of the line. There's no more money to bilk because there's no more money! And so the only direction is down. Nature abhors a vacuum. Down, down, down. (cont.)

Kansans Vote On
Gun Ownership Amendment

Next year, Kansans will vote whether to change the state constitution to guarantee individual gun rights.

“It is the law of the land today in every state. They (supporters) would like to make sure it stays that way in Kansas,” said Senate Majority Leader Derek Schmidt, an Independence Republican. (cont.)

Dark Musings, 2009-03-24

Of course the whole notion of repairing bank balance sheet is a lie and misdirection. The balance sheets we should want to see repaired are household balance sheets. Banks have failed us profoundly. We want them reorganized, not repaired. A world in which the banks are all fixed but households are still broken is worse than what we have right now. Too-big-to-fail banks restored to health are too-big-to-fail banks restored to power. The idea that fixing legacy banks is prerequisite to fixing the broad economy is a lie perpetrated by legacy bankers. (cont.)

Calling All (Soon To Be) Criminals

Here is a tribute to Citigroup and
Bank of America:

No more federal bailout money for these insolvent banks! Listen up America, we are being sold down the river on a daily basis! The stock market is now an official sham! Your 401K is never coming back in your lifetime! We are going to continue to give money to these insolvent banks for what? Save a system that is beyond saving? Citigroup and Bank of America are going bankrupt no matter what we do. We are only giving them more bailout money now to pay off the fat cats and international investors from Europe, China and the Middle East. Your federal gooberment is more interested in keeping the rich rich than keep you out of the gutter!

NO MORE LOANS FOR PRIVATE COMPANIES!
LET THEM ALL FAIL!

Once we break out of what has been a relatively disturbing and cold winter season, I submit to you that most Americans (of the non-sheople species) will begin to think about what has occurred to them since November, 2008. I will recommend some considerations throughout the day but here is the first:

Sixpence None the Wiser

"...Whoever holds government debt owns a piece of your current wealth and your future income. They will tax us for all of eternity to pay interest to foreign countries. In time, the dollar will be worthless, and then what will they demand from us to pay the debt they put on our heads?.."

This is a post from Mish's Global Economic Trend Analysis. It is a great site to learn about trends and get insights on what other people think about our economic situation, stocks, commodities, trends, etc. Here's the blogspot post:

From an earlier post same day: A lot of those families "resigned to financial ruin" would be better off renting. This isn't about them. Its about the banks.

"...Bingo. Everyone accusing Obama of being a socialist just doesn't get it. Nothing he's doing actually helps the "homeowners," as it is merely a short-term patch to a long-term problem. They will still lose the house, just later rather than sooner, and meanwhile, the Banksters reap $275 billion in essentially free money.

This keeps them afloat for a while longer, and enables them to suck out even more cash before the whole hosue of cards fall. It's not socialism, it's fascism. The socialist solution to the problem would be to cram down the mortgage on the house to its current value, then have a newly-founded government-owned bank buy out the mortgage from the bank, and re-mortgage the house to the "homeowner" at something like 4% on a 30-year note.

That would be socialism; what they are going to do is merely robbing Peter to pay Paul for Joe's mortgage, then cutting Joe loose down the line, and then using Peter and Joe's taxes to buy out Pauls' bank once he's sucked all the cash out of it..."

Very sad and very true. Don't be fooled by the last vestiges of a slowing economy. Just because Sandra Pianalto is a fool doesn't mean we have to be one too.

Four quotes from an article everyone should read:

1. "...The staggering wealth accumulated in the top one percent of American society over last 25 years is directly bound up with the deterioration of the economy, the decline of industry and the impoverishment of the working class. The enormous personal fortunes of the elite have been built up on hedge funds, the leveraging of debt and other forms of financial speculation. This has entailed an enormous transfer of resources out of manufacturing and into finance, and out of the working class and into the pockets of those who have played the critical role not only in destroying living standards, but in setting the stage for the present disaster..."

2. "...The subordination of the whole of society to the financial aristocracy is most clearly expressed in the massive bailout of Wall Street. Its political representatives, Democrats and Republican alike, hand over trillions to the biggest banks, while providing no provisions for the masses of people who have lost their jobs and homes..."

3. "...The solution to the economic crisis is not a technical question but a social, political and revolutionary settling of accounts, and a historical necessity. At a certain point in the late 18th century, it became necessary for the oppressed classes of France to rise up and destroy the power and privileges of the nobility. In the America of the 1860s, the only resolution to the “irrepressible conflict” was the destruction of the “slave power” in the South..."

4. "...At this point it is necessary to destroy the political and economic power of the financial aristocracy. A resolution to the economic crisis can only begin with an independent mass movement of the working class that aims to break the political stranglehold of the financial elite over society; the development, to be blunt, of a revolutionary movement..."

Here is the LINK to the full article on Infowars.com.

So what does all of this mean? I find that it is increasily easy to read between the lines of the Wall Street bailout packages and the current "stimulus" plan whirling through both houses of Congress. My take on the overall situation is rather simple: The Obama Administration (and they are not unique in this regard) is trying to PACIFY THE MASSES for a little while longer while they shore up their bottom lines and ensure CONTROL over the unrest that is building.

America is losing jobs at lightning speed. We are destined to destroy the value of the dollar. Foreign investors are shying away from buying our debts. We have already lost the majority of our industrial capacity. So what is left? Well, according to the "SPENDULUS PLAN," the Federal Government is about to throw some bones to the masses:

- Extend and increase unemployment benefits
- Bailout state governments
- Build schools for children with no future job market
- More money for Medicaid
- Anemic tax cuts
- Etc. etc. etc.

What this all amounts to is "buying time" and pacification. The American people need to pull their collective heads out of their asses and pay attention to what is going on. We are being pacified for a while longer so the idiots on Capitol Hill can shore up their personal balance sheets and prepare for the onslaught that is just around the corner.

Take a look at these numbers from The Automatic Earth blogspot:

  • The United States population is roughly 305,000,000
  • About 79% of Americans live in cities or suburbs
  • Over 50% live in cities with populations over 50,000
  • Over 250 cities in the U.S. have over 100,000 people
  • 9 cities have more than 1 million residents
  • There are roughly 6000 registered hospitals in the US
  • 10 to 15% of Americans live below the poverty line
  • In 2007, 37.3 million Americans lived in poverty.
  • The richest 10% of Americans possess 70% of the wealth
  • The top 1% possesses 33.4% of net wealth.
  • Government activity accounts for about 12% of GDP.
  • The service sector accounts for about 65% of GDP
  • The leading sector by income is finance and insurance
  • Agriculture accounts for less than 1% of GDP
  • About 150 million people “are” employed with earnings
  • 80% are full-time jobs
  • 79% are employed in the service sector
  • Health care is the leading field of employment
  • There are roughly 70 million public school students
  • There are about 25 million businesses in the US
  • Small businesses are about 50% of the workforce
  • Roughly 29 million children get free lunch
  • There are roughly 95,000 public schools in the U.S.
  • There are roughly 6.8 million teachers
  • The national average salary for teachers is $45,000
  • Average 4 year college tuition, about $35,000
  • About $8,000 per-pupil is spent
  • 26,300 food pantries in the United States

Now take a look at this graph:

(Click for a sharper image)

You will have to form your own conclusions with this information but I am inclined to believe that the Federal Government (despite which pathetic party is in control) is constructing a spending bill and Wall Street bailout for no other reason than to buy time for the eventual collapse of the dollar and our economy. Why buy time? Well, wouldn't you want some time to prepare for 150 million angry Americans?

We the people OWN YOU and not the other way around!

It appears as though a number of individual states are about to provide a wake-up call that enough is enough! Love Big Brother or Make a Stand Now
In the end, Winston Smith, the rebel in Orwell’s 1984, is brought to Room 101 and O’Brien threatens to let rats chew his face off if he doesn’t pledge his love for Big Brother. He cracks and learns to Love Big Brother. We are nearing a point of no return in this country. Government is acquiring more power and the citizens are losing their liberty and freedom. We can either learn to love it or make a stand against it now.

Ayn Rand in her book Atlas Shrugged describes how we have slowly transformed our country into Orwell’s Oceania:

"Politicians invariably respond to crises -- that in most cases they themselves created -- by spawning new government programs, laws and regulations. These, in turn, generate more havoc and poverty, which inspires the politicians to create more programs . . . and the downward spiral repeats itself until the productive sectors of the economy collapse under the collective weight of taxes and other burdens imposed in the name of fairness, equality and do-goodism."

Pelosi Erases Gingrich's Long-Standing Fairness Rules

Pelosi’s proposed repeal of decades-long House accountability reforms exposes a tyrannical Democrat leadership poised to assemble legislation in secret, then goose-step it through Congress by the elimination of debate and amendment procedures as part of America’s governing legislative process.

America is watching you Pelosi.
Do NOT tread any further into our lives.

Study: As Banks Failed, Top Executives Earned $1.6B

Banks that got bailout funds also paid out millions for home security systems, private chauffeured cars, and club dues. Some banks even paid for financial advisers. Wells Fargo of San Francisco, which took $25 billion in taxpayer bailout money, gave its top executives up to $20,000 each to pay personal financial planners.

Based upon the mood of most Americans, these sons-of-bitches are going to need a good security system.

Fed Refuses to Disclose Recipients of $2 Trillion

Dec. 12 (Bloomberg) -- The Federal Reserve refused a request by Bloomberg News to disclose the recipients of more than $2 trillion of emergency loans from U.S. taxpayers and the assets the central bank is accepting as collateral.

How much more can we take?

Cop Shoots Himself after Gun-Safety Lesson

11-29-08 - MONROE, Ohio - A top cop mistakenly shot himself in the thigh after giving his daughter a lesson in gun safety, police said.

I only have one word of advice: Spend more time behind the trigger of your firearm and less time behind the trigger of a RADAR GUN and things might just improve.

11/17/08 - I present this video to the United States Congress, Barack Obama, the United States Treasury, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank:

Click on the pic above and let me know if you think it is a fitting tribute to the U.S. Congress as they do everything they possibly can to bankrupt the nation.

I sincerely wish we could hear words like these out of a presidential candidate's mouth today:

Election Day, 2008
Think before you vote

‘Obamamania' may assault Second Amendment, bring Fairness Doctrine

Obama's record on the Second Amendment is as follows:

    1. He has supported a complete ban on handguns;
    2. He voted to ban most rifle ammunition;
    3. He refused to sign a brief supporting an individual right in the “Heller” case;
    4. He supported the lawsuits that were designed to destroy the firearm industry;
    5. He opposes the right to carry for self-defense;
    6. He supports gun registration (which in Germany before WWII was used to disarm the Jews and used in Australia to disarm its citizens);
    7. He served on the board of the Joyce Foundation, a rabidly anti-Second Amendment organization;
    8. He voted to allow prosecution of citizens for using firearms for self-defense in their own homes.

Ted Nugent has it right. How pathetic have we become? Can you defend yourself? Can you hunt? Do you know how to keep warm when there is no artificial heat? Can you eat when the grocery stores are empty?

    Think about it.

Fed Attempting To Prevent "Great Depression II"

In order to prevent the "Great Depression II", the Fed and the Treasury have embarked on a series of measures similar in nature to those that caused the great depression.

The root cause of the great depression was the unsound lending patterns leading up to it. Those same unsound lending practices, now carried to the very limits of legality via Bernanke's alphabet soup of facilities, cannot possibly be the cure.

In retrospect, the title of this post is inaccurate. It really should read Fed is Attempting to Cause "Great Depression II."

VOTE AGAINST EVERY SINGLE CONGRESSIONAL INCUMBENT

We need a new government because the one we have is asleep

Andrew Jackson, 1832:

In discussing the Bank Renewal bill with a delegation of bankers in 1832, Jackson said:

“Gentlemen, I have had men watching you for a long time, and I am convinced that you have used the funds of the bank to speculate in the breadstuffs of the country. When you won, you divided the profits amongst you, and when you lost, you charged it to the bank.

You tell me that if I take the deposits from the bank and annul its charter, I shall ruin ten thousand families. That may be true, gentlemen, but that is your sin! Should I let you go on, you will ruin fifty thousand families, and that would be my sin! You are a den of vipers and thieves. I intend to rout you out, and by the eternal God, I will rout you out.”

Have you attempted to contact your congressman or senators over the course of the past week? Have any success? Do they answer their phones? Do they respond to e-mails? How about faxes? Do their fax machines even work?

Here is my take on the situation for what it's worth: THROW EVERY SINGLE INCUMBENT OUT OF OFFICE THIS NOVEMBER.

Our Congress (and our federal government in general) is COMPLETELY and WILDLY out of control. They no longer represent you. They do not care about you. Your word and opinion means nothing to them.

We are approaching "slave state" status.

09/26/08 - Welcome to a Friday sure to be filled with chaos across the U.S. economy. Last night, if you have not already noticed, Washington Mutual failed. WaMu has seen an exodus of more than $16 billion in deposits in the last 10 days alone!

It is growing frustrating too how our Congress and President are not listening to the American taxpayer who are JUST SAYING NO TO A WALL STREET BAILOUT.

We do not want a plan! This plan is a disaster in the making. The entire scheme is cooked up to save face and buy time. We are not heading off a market meltdown with another $700 billion. Rather, we are just delaying the crash.

Please never assume that Paulson, Bernanke, Bush, Obama, McCain, Dodd, Frank or anyone else involved in these negotiations is smarter than you and me. These folks are selling your future down the river.

Why the panic? Why the need for such a quick response? Just weeks ago we were all told that the fundamentals of our economy are solid. So what has changed in a mere 14 days that our elected and appointed officials failed to mention?

Please read this link:

Take Back America

It is time to take back America from Wall Street and return it to Main Street USA.

------------------------------------------------

09/23/08 - Who is the Fed trying to fool here? Do they (aka Bernanke and Paulson) believe that a market collapse would actually halt our economy? This is a scare tactic and far from true. There will be "business as usual" for many segments of our economy even in the fact of a market collapse that brings down these big financial institutions.

The fact that the American economy has gravitated toward a "MEGA EVERYTHING" mentality is part of the problem. I wouldn't lose a minute of sleep over the collapse of every "mega" store, bank, lender, insurer, etc. Let them all collapse. I would far prefer to see a paradigm shift in our economy that brings taxpayer dollars closer to home. Right now all we are doing is shipping our dollars overseas.

Paulson repeatedly fielded questions from committee members asking why taxpayers should accept the burdens of a bailout.
"You worry about taxpayers being on the hook?" he replied at one point. "Guess what — they're already on the hook." Paulson suggested that the fallout from the credit crisis was so dire it would hit people in their pocketbooks unless forceful action were taken. Moreover, the flawed and outdated regulatory system, which didn't catch abuses, needs to be overhauled, he said.

Here is news for you Mr. Paulson: You are not one iota smarter than anyone else interested in these matters. This is not rocket science. This is not quantum physics. This is not mathematics for that matter. This is about SOCIAL SCIENCE. I regret that acedemia ever succumbed to moving economics to the business schools. That was a disaster.

--------------------------------------------

09/23/08 - So Now Bernanke and Paulson are threatening Congress and America with "RECESSION" if we do not authorize this massive bailout of financial institutions. I say bring it on then. We would be far better off suffering through a couple of years of hard times than 50 years of debt that de-values the dollar and ensures MEDIOCRITY for the American standard of living.

Did you read this in the Fed's bailout proposal
:
“Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency.”

How interesting. So, Americans are going to finance the bailout but no one is going to be accountable!

These people will stop at nothing until the American people STOP THEM!

I would rather see the stock market crumble than bail out one more financial institution. I would rather see a massive defection from New York City and Wall Street than give them $1 to run amuck with yet again. This will only be the beginning. A $700 billion bailout is nothing combared to the severity of the problem.

Do you realize that bonuses on Wall Street last year totalled $60 billion?

Still a Favorite: Shop China

--------------------------------------

A chuckle over our Wal Mart fixation. Have you ever thought for a moment about America's fixation over purchasing absolute junk? We sure do love the "low prices" but then we turn around and complain about the loss of jobs. We lost those jobs years ago as a result of our own stupidity and absolute ADDICTION to JUNK made in China and shoved down our throats at stores like Wal Mart. Soon, there will be nothing left BUT Wal Mart. Think before you buy another piece of plastic poop.
